About Us
The Gateway chapter of the Missouri Pilots Association meets on the first Tuesday or Wednesday of each month at The Columns in St. Charles, MO.
The Missouri Pilots Association is a non-profit organization operating for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. Founded in 1953, it operates under section 501(c)3 of the IRS code. Our purpose is to promote aviation safety in Missouri by carrying on educational, civic, and patriotic activities for our members and others. We promote aviation safety through publications, visual presentations, meetings and seminars. Some of these activities are presented in collaboration with other aviation organizations and with the FAA. Our members come from all walks of life including professional pilots, flight instructors, doctors, attorneys, accountants, farmers, students, engineers, nurses, teachers, businessmen and businesswomen to name a few. Many own their own airplanes, but that is certainly not a requirement. All that is necessary is an interest in aviation. The MPA currently has fourteen active chapters in the state and represents about 1,500 members. The chapters are divided geographically throughout the state. Membership is $25.00 per year for individuals or husband and wife together.
The GATEWAY CHAPTER, founded in 1977, represents over 190 members from the metro and outlying areas. Our members fly from all the pubic and many private airports in the area. In addition to promoting general aviation and safety in Missouri, we also like to get together and just have fun! We welcome you to attend our Gateway Chapter meetings on the second Wednesday of every month and also join us on our fly-outs. Our dinners and meetings are attended by many couples, so please bring your partner and feel free to invite guests. We have been known to slip in a non-aviation speaker at times for the non-flying spouses. Our annual picnic in June is usually held at a local airport.
We meet at THE COLUMNS, 711 Fairlane, in St. Charles. This is on the south service road for 1-70 just west of Fifth Street. The doors open at 6:00 and the buffet line begins at 6:30 followed by the program at 7:30. We adjourn by 9:30. It is not necessary to dine with us to attend the program at 7:30 p.m. We are a friendly and informal group, and we do ask that you make dinner reservations by the Monday evening preceding the meeting. Current contact information is given in our newsletter on this site. We look forward to meeting you soon!
